TEKenable's has an excellent opportunity for a Programme Manager to join our client's IT Project Delivery Team. The role is mainly operational since this person is responsible for planning and governance and for overseeing the successful delivery of the programme’s output/product.
Although knowledge of the business is important, there is more focus on programme management skills. The programme manager must have practical experience of having been a project manager for large and complex IT initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
* Daily programme management throughout the programme life cycle, including management of programme documentation.
* Refining and adhering to the programme governance (controls).
* Planning the overall programme and monitoring the progress.
* Managing the programme’s budget.
* Managing risks and issues and taking corrective measurements where applicable.
* Coordinating the projects and their interdependencies.
* Managing and utilising resources across projects.
* Managing stakeholders’ communication.
* Aligning the deliverables (outputs) to the programme’s “outcome” with the aid of the business change manager.
* Lead end to end project management to meet outcomes through the combination of outputs delivered through projects, discharged through Integrated Programme Leads and/or Project Managers.
IT Programme Manager experience required
* Have established credentials and experience in Programme Management.
* Have the ability to understand, review and analyse Project Control Documentation (Schedules / Cost plans / PMPs).
* Proven portfolio/programme/project management experience.
* A thorough understanding and knowledge of the project lifecycle, governance processes, standards, methodologies and tools.
* Experience of reporting and financial budget management.
Education
* A formal project management certification (e.g. PMP, P3O, PRINCE 2, or equivalent).
* Understanding of Waterfall and Disciplined Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
* MS Project and MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Competencies
* The programme manager must have strong practical experience in project management, which was gained through managing large and complex projects. The following skills must also be apparent:
* Good knowledge and handling of project and programme management methodology and techniques;
* Good understanding of the wider objectives of the programme;
* Ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in programme management;
* Strong leadership and management skills;
* Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures;
* The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems;
* Manage resources both internally and understanding delivery partner resource allocation and constraints;
* Undertake tasks with a positive attitude and respond well to management requests.
